Five Alive: Audi’s Q3 Crossover to Get RS3/TT RS Five-Cylinder

Audi is just now launching its Q3 small crossover, although it won’t be hitting the U.S. market for a while, if ever. That’s too bad, as it now emerges that the engine lineup will be topped by one of the most interesting powerplants available anywhere: the same 2.5-liter, single-turbo inline-five that powers Audi’s TT RS [...]

RBR: Vettel focused on wins not title

Sebastian Vettel's focus will remain very much on winning every race he can, even though his healthy championship lead now means he can start playing the numbers game to secure himself his second world title. That is the view of his team boss Christian Horner, who reckons that Vettel is not yet ready to start taking things conservatively to guarantee another crown.

Hamilton not giving up on title yet

Lewis Hamilton has insisted that he remains focused on doing all he can to win the world championship this year, despite having admitted in Valencia on Sunday night that the title fight was all but over. Less than 24 hours after Hamilton suggested that runaway championship leader Sebastian Vettel had 'pretty much' guaranteed the title already, the McLaren driver amazingly took a snipe at the media reports of what he had said

Europe Saturday quotes: Pirelli

Paul Hembery: "It was interesting to see the relative pace of the PZero White and PZero Yellow tyre in today's hot conditions, with more rubber laid down on this quite aggressive track. We're seeing a difference of over a second now between the medium and the soft, depending on the individual team. "But in the hot temperatures that we're going to experience again tomorrow, with similar track temperatures to today, the advantage that the PZero Yellow has in terms of pace is going to be balanced by the extra stability and durability of the PZero White

Vietoris confident he is now fit

Christian Vietoris is certain that he is back to 100 per cent fitness after missing the last two GP2 rounds for health reasons. The German crashed heavily in the sprint race of the first weekend of the year in Turkey when he suffered a brake failure, and after racing in the DTM at Zandvoort the following weekend he skipped the GP2 races at Barcelona and Monaco to allow his head to recover. He has since raced twice more for Mercedes in the DTM, and reported no ill effects after returning to GP2 action on the streets of Valencia on Friday

Prince Albert’s Wedding Can: A Unique Lexus LS600hL Landaulet

His Serene Highness, Albert II, Sovereign Prince of Monaco, is getting married. As any self-respecting hereditary head of state’s nuptials would, Albert’s wedding to South African Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock requires a conveyance a commoner simply can’t get his hands on. Drag racer loses steering wheel - Click above to watch video after the jump

Drag racing is about being the fastest person to go from one point to another in a straight line. Despite the lack of turns involved, drag racers still need a steering wheel to maneuver their vehicles to and from the track, and to keep the front-end pointing in the right direction when blasting away from the tree. What would happen if the tiller decided to separate itself from the steering column?

One racer found out, and was pretty lucky with the answer he received. Click past the jump to see the clip.

Günter Shaldach hops the fence at Road America - Click above to watch video after the jump

During the weekend's Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car race at Road America, Günter Shaldach radioed his crew to report what he called "a brake issue." Shortly after that, as Shaldach's CoolTV Chevrolet Camaro was hurtling toward turn one behind Joe Foster's Florida.com Mazda RX-8, he locked up at full tilt, and plowed into the Mazda. Then it got really ugly. Shaldach continued straight through the gravel trap and tire barriers, then flew over the course fence into the outside world.

Fellow team driver Oliver Gavin later said Shaldach had pushed the brake pedal and it went to the floor, then everything simply locked up. The airborne red blur in the pic above is Shaldach's leaping Camaro, the trail of dust on the right is the Mazda. Thankfully, Shaldach got out of the car and walked back up to the track on his own. Follow the jump to see video of the incident.

McLaren duo call for more performance

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button both called for the team to find more downforce on the car as soon as possible after they took disappointing fourth and sixth places in Valencia. After several races in which McLaren had either looked capable of beating Red Bull or succeeded in doing so, the European Grand prix saw the Woking squad jumped by Ferrari and some way off the lead pace.
